چکیده

Accurate and efficient simulation of remote sensing images is increasingly needed in order to better exploit observations design missions. Monte Carlo Simulation of Radiative Transfer in Atmospheric Environments for Problems Arising from Remote Sensing Measurements

The way in which solar radiation distributes itself in the atmosphere and on the ground is well known. It is beyond the scope of this book and the reader can refer to more specific references (Kondratyev, 1969; Goody & Yung, 1995; Liou, 1998) for more detail. Solar radiation, essentially in the visible-ultraviolet frequency range, and infrared radiation, emitted by the terrestrial surface, are ...

Monte Carlo radiative transfer in protoplanetary disks

Aims. We present a new continuum 3D radiative transfer code, MCFOST, based on a Monte-Carlo method. MCFOST can be used to calculate (i) monochromatic images in scattered light and/or thermal emission, (ii) polarisation maps, (iii) interferometric visibilities, (iv) spectral energy distributions and (v) dust temperature distributions of protoplanetary disks. Methods. Several improvements to the ...

Redrop – an Efficient Monte-carlo Method for Simulating Extraction Columns

Due to increase in the price of fossil fuels and the decrease in their reserves, renewable raw materials are industrially used more and more frequently. Therefore extraction, as an energy-saving unit operation has gained additional importance. Precise design methods for technical columns are required for the future. So far, pilot-plant experiments are carried out as a basis for equipment design...

Efficient Monte Carlo methods for continuum radiative transfer

We discuss the efficiency of Monte Carlo methods in solving continuum radiative transfer problems. The sampling of the radiation field and convergence of dust temperature calculations in the case of optically thick clouds are both studied. For spherically symmetric clouds we find that the computational cost of Monte Carlo simulations can be reduced, in some cases by orders of magnitude, with si...
